velvet balls :)
so... my new fun thing to do, and a great compromise to jacobs unlovingness towards cupcakes (shocking! i know!!) is a new little creation i made on accident.
i made some red velvet cake the other day and was going to attempt cupcake pops, but considering we dont have a microwave (yet) i couldnt melt the chocolate that was supposed to cover them- and, with my short attention span, i got very frustrated trying to attempt double boiling.
anyways, all it is is cake mixed w/icing and then rolled into balls! they're the perfect size to munch on, and jacob loves them! so he got the naming rights :)
happy birhtday to me (again)
corn or cUpCakE??
so happy birthday to meeee!
my mom got me a whole little kit of stuff to make corn-on-the-cobbie cupcakes. they turned out really cute, but i couldnt get the little corn holders to stick in the sides cuz i forgot about the altitude change (oops). but, here they are none the less!
7-up cake w/cream cheese (surprise, surprise) frosting.

happy birthday to... YAYA
mexican hot chocolate
so the kind ladies at latin women's initiative donated $5k to one of my events. i decided that some thank you cupcakes were definitely in order (considering that some of my other cupcakes have fetched $45k (2 boxes of the Tickled Pink) and $25k (1 box of Fredericksburg Peaches)...).
going w/the latin theme, i made some mexican hot chocolate cupcakes. i couldn't find churros anywhere in the city of houston, and they buenuelos that i finally did buy tasted aweful. so, like a true american, i went to taco bell. those little cinnamon crispies were acutally cuter anyways. (note: they become very very stale overnight... so i wouldn't recommend eating them).
basically, for those that do not know, mexican hot chocolate is chocolate with a bunch of spices in it. i added cinnamon and chili powder to a chocolate recipe i have... and they came out pretty delicious. i was extremely nervous putting the chili powder in it, but if i had to do it all over again, i'd double the amount i used.

tiny boxwood inspiration
so... one morning, at our tinys ritual coffee wednesday, kim asked me, lauren, and lesley for some ideas for a farewell party for a friend of hers. we, of course in our typical creative genius fashion, gave her tons and tons of ideas. and then, by the end of breakfast, we have volunteered ourselves to basically do everything but host a party for a girl we've absolutely never met. texas hill country style.
i was going to make the peach cupcakes (posted below) but since it was for a party, i decided mini's would be a better fit. and everyone knows the affinity i have for all things mini.
so, i decided on lemon blueberry lil guys. the icing didn't taste as blueberry-ish as i would have liked... but i have no idea on how to naturally make it more blueberry tasting (w/o having to use artificial flavoring). oh well, they turned out yummy and super cute. so here they are!
red, white, and blueberry lemon mini's to the rescue!

TICKLED PINK
so i made 26 boxes of 5 cupcakes for our media contacts to invite them to Tickled Pink. 26 x 5 + 2 for me = 132 little cupcake babies. that's definitley the most cupcakes i've EVER made.
and, as my luck would have it, my camera died last night, so avi had to take pics of them for me this morning ::
